Why These Builds Dominate in STS2
These arent "good" builds. These are broken builds the kind that make you feel guilty for playing them. Each one can solo Ascension 20 with moderate RNG.
The common thread? They all exploit one of three mechanics: infinite scaling, 0-cost spam, or exponential damage multiplication.
1. Ironclad: Corruption + Feel No Pain (Infinite Block)
The Concept: Corruption makes all Skills cost 0 and play automatically when drawn. Feel No Pain gives 3 Block every time you play a Skill and when you Exhaust a Skill. With a deck full of Skills + Dark Embrace (draw 1 on exhaust), you create a loop.
Core Cards: Corruption (Power), Feel No Pain (Power), Dark Embrace (Power), Offering, Second Wind, True Grit (Upgraded).
The Relic Combo: Dead Branch (exhaust cards spawn random Skill) turns this into a Skill-generating machine. Add Runic Pyramid (keep hand on rest) and you become truly immortal.
Pro Tip: Dont add Corruption too early. Only pick it when your deck has 8+ Skills.
2. Silent: Poison Death Pop (0-Cost Shiv Spam)
The Concept: Silents deadliest build isnt poison its 0-cost Shiv generation combined with Strength scaling. Goal: play 10+ 0-cost attacks per turn, each dealing 8-15 damage. One turn, dead boss.
Core Cards: Accuracy (Power, +4 Shiv damage), Blade Dance (3 Shivs, 0 cost upgraded), Cloak and Dagger (0-cost, Block + Shiv), Well-Laid Plans, Wraith Form.
The Secret Weapon: Kunai relic (+1 damage per attack this combat) combined with Accuracy + 10 Shivs/turn = 80+ damage per turn, scaling infinitely.
3. Defect: Frost Orbs + Glacier (Immortal)
The Concept: Defects Frost Orbs generate Block each turn. Glacier makes Frost Orbs trigger twice. With 3-4 Frost Orbs active, you get 24-32 Block per turn passively.
Core Cards: Glacier (Power), Defragment (Power, +1 max Frost Orb each turn), Boot Sequence (2 Frost Orbs, draw 1, 0 cost).
Offense: While immortal, use Lightning Orbs + Capacitor (Power) for damage. Or use Self-Destruct (0-cost, die to deal 30 x orb count damage).
4. Watcher: Scrawl + Talk to the Hand (20x Damage)
The Concept: Watchers Scrawl (Power) doubles all damage dealt. Talk to the Hand (0-cost, returns to hand) deals 8 damage. With Scrawl = 16 damage per 0-cost card. Play 10 = 160 damage. One turn.
Core Cards: Scrawl (Power), Talk to the Hand, Inner Peace, Deceive Reality (0-cost, add Smite), Conjure Blade.
The Math: Scrawl (2x) + Paper Phrog relic (+6 damage per attack after taking damage) = 28 x 2 = 56 damage per Talk to the Hand. Play it 5 times = 280 damage. Ascension 20 boss has ~280 HP.
Brutal Truth: This build is so broken that high-level players consider Watcher "easy mode." If youre stuck on A20, switch to Watcher.
5. Universal: Prismatic Shard + Any AOE
The Concept: Prismatic Shard (relic) lets you choose which characters cards to draw from. This means you can build a hybrid deck combining the best cards from all 4 characters.
How to Get It: Rare relic, appears in Act 3 shops (~5% chance) or as boss relic. If you see it buy it immediately, even at full price. It wins runs.
